Transitions are happening all around us!

Our own Eric Parker turned forty recently, and in lieu of accepting the bounty of gifts that were surely headed his way, he organized a crowd-sourcing campaign to raise money for theClubhou.se. Specifically, he was raising money to help with renovations to the physical space of our Innovation Academy, and with that we began work on refinishing the floors in the computer lab, electronics lab, and reception area; recovering the original floors! So those spaces are transitioning to create a more receptive environment in which to work.

This is all happening in the lead up to the Innovation Academy hosting, with other community partners, the first Annual Warrior Resource Expo. This event is geared towards veterans and those soon to be transitioning out of the military service. Topics will include Industry Certifications, Education Tips, VA Benefits, Resume Writing Tips (Federal and Civilian), How to Dress for Success, Interviewing Techniques, and Social Media Etiquette. This event, Thursday April 30th, from 3:00-8:00 pm, is open to all military, active and veteran, as well as theClubhou.se members.

Also starting this week is the Maker Fellows Scholarship, made possible through a grant from The Georgia Technology Authority. This program awards students, up through college age, as well as educators, with a year-long membership to theClubhouse and an hour a week of mentoring to assist them in completing quarterly projects. Stay tuned as the participants will be presenting their projects in mid-June at the Innovation Academy!

And I’ll take this opportunity to introduce myself: Hi, I’m Chase Lanier! I started working here at theClubhou.se as the new Building Manager and Program Coordinator a couple of weeks ago. I’ll be helping to develop new programs and classes, as well as helping out with the space. So if you have any questions or recommendations, send me an email at chaselanier@theclubhou.se and we’ll see what we can do to transition our space into what is needed by our community!
